台灣媒體觀察教育基金會簡介

Taiwan Media Watch, established in 1999 by the joint efforts from academia and media professionals, and from the public who share concerns about the media realm, is the first constitutional media monitor and reform body in Taiwan.   It is dedicated to media literacy and education, media civil right, media labor right, media public characters, and media diversity.   The collective civil actions, in our belief, shall generate a public media space of reasonableness, respect, justice, democracy, and diversity.  
 
The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights proclaimed "communication right" one of essential human rights.  "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.  That is the basic citizenship in modern world. "  Thus, citizens who are entitled to communication right can have access not only to knowledge, but also to participate in or even influence the media content, and to enhance social understanding and reform; this is the core value of democracy.
 
We believe communication right is best realized in a pluralistic media world, where all kinds of media running by NGOs, commercial corporations, ethical groups, communities, and regions coexist with each other, media workers are set free in their profession, and the audience provided with options.
 
Taiwan Media Watch stresses that media literacy is the foundation of communication right and modern democracy.  Therefore, Media Watch works on the improvement of media literacy, unite civil actions in media monitor, and providing different angles of understanding media.  Media literacy serves two roles: to amplify media's influence in the public sphere, monitor their operation, and to enable media workers to produce high-quality programs.  For citizens, they will acknowledge different perspectives through media literacy, and to reach a mutual understanding between groups.  That is the spirit of democracy.  

To sum up, a sound media development requires diverse yet integrated media reforms, media literacy and education, and so on.   Therefore, we concentrate on: 
1. Advocating the establishment of pluralistic media;
2. Breaking media monopoly, while supporting grass root and independent media;
3. Improving media literacy, and accumulating the civic power on media reform; 
4. Facilitating a media monitor platform between citizens and media;   
5. Exerting pressure on media and its supervision authorities through critical discourses and actions;  
6. Uniting social groups to strengthen the dimensions and scopes of media reform; 
7. Protecting labor right of media workers, and fighting for a respectful, open, and professional media working environment.

Chúng tôi là “Tổ chức pháp nhân hội từ thiện giáo dục quan sát truyền thông Đài Loan”, gọi tắt là “Giới quan sát truyền thông”, được thành lập năm 1999. Chúng tôi đang cố gắng mở rộng giáo dục sự nhận thức tìm hiểu về giới truyền thông, duy trì quyền lợi công dân của giới truyền thông, xây dựng kết cấu đa nguyên của giới truyền thông. Chúng tôi tin rằng, thông qua sức mạnh của tập thể sẽ sáng tạo ra một không gian công cộng truyền thông đa nguyên, dân chủ, công bằng chính nghĩa, tôn trọng và hợp lí.

Có lẽ bạn thường thấy rằng, trào lưu truyền thông của Đài Loan đưa tin về những người bạn di dân mới và các bạn lao động nước ngoài, chứa đầy sự kỳ thị và thành kiến sai lầm.
