Mission and Vision

As a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization, the Taiwan Media Watch Foundation is committed to maintaining press freedom, carrying out media justice, promoting media self-regulation, and protecting the public's right to know. We firmly believe that quality media are essential to a good society; A healthy media system is the key to build and maintain a democratic society.

We truly hold that the news media have to play the roles of both “watchdog” and “guide dog”. However, the news media themselves should also be watched and monitored by the civil society.

Our mission is to watch and monitor the news media so that a sound, democratic society could be realized. We are committed to being fair, professional, conscientious, and transparent. Over the last 23 years, we have worked together with other civic society organizations to engage with the news media in Taiwan. We also contributed to maintaining a better and healthier media environment and society.
